With the 2024 NFL Draft approaching, there's a lot of talk about where the top prospects might end up. In the midst of all this uncertainty, I've identified some good bets for the NFL Draft that focus on highly praised talents like Malik Nabers, Brock Bowers, and Drake Maye. Let's take a look at where these betting opportunities lie.
NFL Draft Odds
Malik Nabers Being Chosen in the Top 5 (+155, FanDuel)
Malik Nabers is part of the strong tradition of outstanding LSU wide receiver prospects set to be picked in the first round, following in the footsteps of Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. Nabers had an excellent junior season, with 1,569 receiving yards on 89 catches and 14 touchdowns. With a significant 31.9% target share in a high-powered offense, he proved his worth on the field.
His athletic ability is equally impressive, shown by a very fast 4.35-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. Nabers’ size-adjusted speed score is in the 84th percentile, while his burst score is in the 98th percentile.
Even though he's expected to be the second receiver chosen, there's a chance Nabers could still be one of the first 5 picks, possibly joining the Los Angeles Chargers with the 5th pick. Despite different opinions in mock drafts, some experts even think Nabers could be picked before Marvin Harrison Jr.
The Chargers’ recent loss of their top players, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, makes Nabers an attractive choice. His skills match perfectly with what Justin Herbert needs—a dynamic big-threat receiver to target downfield.
Brock Bowers Being Chosen in the Top 10 (+160, FanDuel)
Brock Bowers represents the new type of tight ends seen in players like Sam LaPorta or George Kittle—explosive, agile, and with exceptional route-running abilities. Bowers consistently finds opportunities, excels after catching the ball, and has a very low drop rate of only 4.4%.
During his time at Georgia, Bowers showed his ability to create mismatches against opposing defenses, leading the team in receiving yards with over 700 yards and averaging almost 13 yards per catch.
Even though Bowers may not be famous for his pass-blocking, it’s not a must-have in today’s NFL, as shown by players like Travis Kelce. Instead, Bowers offers dynamic playmaking skills that make him an appealing prospect for offenses wanting explosiveness.
Several mock drafts predict Bowers being chosen either by the New York Jets with the 10th pick or the Chicago Bears with the 9th pick—both teams in great need of an offensive boost. The Athletic ranks Bowers as the 7th best prospect in the NFL draft, showing significant potential for him to be picked in the top 10. Betting on Bowers going early in the draft has a lot of value.
Player Draft Position
Number 2 Overall Pick: Drake Maye (+150, FanDuel)
Drake Maye emerges as a highly promising traditional passer prospect, with ideal quarterback measurements at 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds, along with impressive arm strength and consistent accuracy.
While Maye’s mobility is seen as a possible weakness, it’s important to note that he shows more agility than some scouts recognize. Despite not being the most mobile quarterback, he demonstrates the ability to avoid sacks, move well in the pocket, and stay focused downfield to make big plays.
The Washington Commanders, with the 2nd pick, are a great choice for Maye, especially with Kliff Kingsbury as the new offensive coordinator. It's becoming more likely that Maye will be the Commanders’ top pick at number 2, rather than Jayden Daniels . This growing agreement suggests it's a good idea to bet on Maye being selected at that position.
