Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has okayed the selection of Major Maikano Adamu (retd.) as the Acting leader of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards.
In a statement on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Information, Munnir Haidara, said the selection was with immediate effect.
“The appointment of the acting CPG Leader is a result of the recent suspension of Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (retd.) by the state government,” the statement read.
Before his selection, the new state-acting Leader, Adamu, was the immediate Deputy Commandant.
The former CPG Leader was suspended on Wednesday following his statements where he accused the state government of poor funding of the group.
