A teacher at Cy-Fair High School resigned recently following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
29-year-old Kayden Burbank is still in Harris County Jail on a $60,000 bond, and is set to appear in court on April 26. Jail records records indicate that Burbank was booked on April 9, the same day he quit, due to charges of improper relations with a student.
Cy-Fair ISD did not give specifics or further comments beyond a statement confirming that Burbank was placed on administrative leave on April 2, 2024. This was pending a thorough investigation by campus administration and law enforcement, prompted by allegations of an improper relationship between a teacher and student. reported KHOU 11.
Based on court documents, Burbank is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student at Cy-Fair High School, according to KHOU 11.
Authorities learned of the alleged crime after Burbank’s girlfriend presented text messages allegedly exchanged between him and the supposed victim.
Burbank also served as an assistant football coach for the Cy-Fair Football team. However, he has been removed from the high school’s directory as of this week.
Burbank was arrested shortly after another Harris County teacher.
Kedria McMath Grigsby, 42, who taught cosmetology at Klein Cain High School, was arrested on charges of child sex trafficking and compelling prostitution, reportedly involving three students who were reportedly runaways, aged 15, 16, and 17.
