Donald Trump is now asking for at least 5% of the money raised by Republican candidates and groups who use his name and image for fundraising.
“Starting tomorrow, all candidates and committees using President Trump’s name, image, and likeness for fundraising are requested to give a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC. This includes sending to the house file, prospecting vendors, and advertising,” Trump co-campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in a letter dated April 15.
They also stated: “Any split higher than 5% will be viewed positively by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign and reported to the top levels of leadership within both organizations.”
Media outlets have been avoiding the issue, but let’s call the plan what it is.
Trump sees the Republican Party as a criminal operation that he is leading, and like all criminal groups, the leader receives a share of the profits.
The former president isn’t asking for his share to support other candidates. Trump wants the money to go to the joint fundraising agreement, which he is using to direct most of the money to his super PAC for paying his legal expenses.
Donald Trump is trying to get other Republicans to cover his legal fees.
Trump has been attempting to find a way for Republicans to pay for using his name and image in fundraising for years.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Trump attempted to sue those who refused to pay
Trump’s recent action proves that the GOP is no longer just a political party. It's a business, and Donald Trump wants his share of the profits.
