The Milwaukee Bucks experienced a frightening injury during their match against the Boston Celtics. Giannis Antetokounmpo sustained a sudden calf injury, later diagnosed as a soleus injury.
While speaking with journalists, Rivers updated on Antetokounmpo’s injury. Rivers mentioned that the Bucks’ star will undergo an MRI and then departed the arena, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm’s X account.
Per Jamal Collier’s X account, Rivers acknowledged both his worry and hopefulness about Antetokounmpo’s injury.
“That’s a good question. High. But he’s Giannis. I think everyone probably feels the same way as I do right now. We’re just going hope for the best.”
The Bucks will receive more details about Antetokounmpo as time passes. It’s uncertain whether he will be sidelined for the following few weeks or if he will be ready for their next game against the Orlando Magic on April 10.
Antetokounmpo’s nonattendance did not pose a problem for the Bucks. They triumphed over the Celtics regardless, securing a 104-89 win, which improves their chances of securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. However, if Antetokounmpo’s injury becomes an issue, it could spell trouble for the Bucks’ playoff aspirations.
