Vice President Kashim Shettima stated that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to enhancing Nigeria’s development of basic infrastructure, particularly focusing on the essential needs of the nation.
Shettima shared this information during a Ramadan Iftar event at his residence in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where he hosted members of the Borno Elders Forum, members of the All Progressives Congress and other stakeholders.
The details of Tuesday evening’s discussions were disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications Stanley Nkwocha in a statement entitled ‘President Tinubu committed to Nigeria’s infrastructure development—VP Shettima.’
His remarks came after persistent power outages in Maiduguri and some parts of Borno.
In the first two weeks of March, residents of Maiduguri experienced complete blackout when the new 50 megawatt Gas power plant, which supplied power to the town, stopped functioning.
Built by the Federal Government, the gas power plant was intended to address the regular attacks by insurgents on the National Grid transmission line providing power to the town.
This was followed by other instances of erratic power supply as residents grappled with temperatures as high as 43 degrees Celsius.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima assured residents that Tinubu is well aware of the challenge, and as a result, President Tinubu issued a directive for the situation to be immediately addressed.
He also called for continued support for the Tinubu administration by all Nigerians, emphasizing that the government’s policies would greatly benefit all in no time.
“We owe it to this President to be loyal and law-abiding citizens. He has a good understanding of our situation, challenges and the prospects we have as a nation.
“A careful examination of our nation’s economy will reveal a gradual improvement in most areas. This is proof that our investment of votes and trust in this leader will be rewarding in the long run.
“So, let us continue to pray for him, commit ourselves to peace, unity and the development of the Nigerian nation, and we will definitely benefit from it,” noted the Vice President.
Also speaking at the event was the Chairman of Borno Elders Forum, Gambo Gubio, who expressed gratitude to the Vice President for the invitation.
Gubio showed strong belief and trust in the abilities of both the President and his Vice.
He was joined by the secretary of the group, Bulama Gubio, who recognized the dedication of the Tinubu administration to the Nigerian project, and added that the President deserves support from all Nigerians.
