WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Noah Partenio mentioned that he attended the Times Leader Career Expo on Tuesday to explore available job opportunities that might interest him.
Partenio, 21, from Throop, stated that although he is currently employed, he took the time to visit various booths to learn about the job options offered by different companies.
“I’m seeking a higher-paying job with benefits,” Partenio explained. “I gathered information from about six companies that I will likely apply to.”
Partenio was conversing with representatives from Berkshire-Hathaway GUARD Insurance. Cecilia Hebda, Erica Gadomski, and Trina Davala from GUARD shared that they received significant interest from expo attendees for positions with competitive salaries and benefits.
Partenio mentioned that this was his inaugural job fair experience at the Times Leader Career Expo.
“It’s quite fascinating,” Partenio remarked. “There are numerous job opportunities available — and they are more accessible to discover here than online.”
Kerry Miscavage, Publisher of Times Leader Media Group, indicated that the career expo was organized in partnership with Mohegan Arena, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, and Mo Devlin Photography.
“The Times Leader Career Expo highlighted the power of in-person connections,” Miscavage stated. “As the sole local expo offering this kind of opportunity, we provided regional recruiters and job seekers with a distinctive event. From exploring career prospects to enhancing resumes with professional headshots and tips, our expo provided steps toward professional success. Our recruiters left feeling assured that they had engaged with qualified candidates.”
Miscavage emphasized that the Times Leader has always been at the forefront of hosting cost-effective job fairs for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
“Our aim is for you to discover new employees who can make a positive contribution to your organization’s workforce and culture, while also understanding what current job seekers are seeking and pursuing,” Miscavage noted.
Diane Grohowski and Candace Apostolou from Federal Hearing and Appeals Services mentioned that their booth was consistently busy throughout the day.
They expressed their intent to hire data analysts, administrative assistants, data entry roles, a controller, and an operations director. They stated that FHAS provides competitive salaries and benefits, and they reported substantial interest from potential applicants.
Maureen Ciliberto and Gina Miale from Penn State Wilkes-Barre indicated that they were offering post-career fair services. They mentioned that they were actively recruiting students and providing job applicants with tips on how to maximize their experiences at job fairs, as well as assistance in crafting resumes and guidance on communicating with potential employers.
