Victor Oismhen’s amazing goal against Monza on Sunday is still getting attention from football stars around the world, with Chelsea and Ivory Coast Didier Drogba being the most recent to admire the Nigeria striker, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
After a tough period in March, when he didn't score in four matches for Napoli after scoring five goals in three games, including a hat-trick against Sassuolo in February, Osimhen started scoring again last weekend with a powerful header in Napoli's 4-2 comeback win at Monza.
With 54 minutes on the clock, Cameroon’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa sent in a lovely, looping right-footed cross, having seen Osimhen ready 12 yards out after finding space between three defenders.
Osimhen jumped high to score the amazing ‘Superman goal’ to help the champions make a comeback.
The goal definitely impressed one of his potential predecessors at Stamford Bridge, Drogba.
Speaking during an interview with FOX Sports, Drogba, whom the Nigeria striker looks up to, admitted he wouldn’t have tried such a goal during his playing days.
“I saw Victor score that goal against Monza,” Drogba told FOX Sports.
“Oh God, he’s got hurt, I thought. I wouldn’t have gone for that ball, it was incredible, an unbelievable goal.”
Osimhen has a history of amazing jumps. In February 2023, the Nigerian leaped 2.58m in the air to score against Spezia, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo to record the second-highest leap in Serie A behind only Fikayo Tomori.
The 25-year-old continues to be connected with a move away from Napoli with Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich among his suitors.
