Quebec provincial police (SQ) are investigating a woman’s body found in a residential building in Canadiac, a Montreal suburb on the South Shore.
Local police were summoned to the residence on Toulouse Street at about midday Tuesday.
Spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau of the SQ stated that the call came from someone close to the woman who was worried about her safety.
Although the victim's identity has not been confirmed by the police, they believe she was in her late 20s.
She was pronounced deceased at the location.
Bilodeau mentioned that the incident is being viewed as suspicious and has been handed over to the SQ in accordance with procedure.
Bilodeau stated that an autopsy will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
A command post has been established as the inquiry progresses.
