The Abia State Police Command and the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have promised the Muslim community and other residents a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The state Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwumelie, and the state Commandant of NSCDC, Usman Alfadarai, expressed their commitment to ensuring a smooth celebration in the state in their separate 2024 Eid-el-Fitr messages.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Abia State Police Command is devoted to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors as they celebrate this important festival.
The officers have been working diligently to provide adequate security measures before, during, and after the celebration. They have increased their presence in key areas and will be closely monitoring public gatherings and events to maintain peace and order.
They also urge all Muslim faithful and the general public to be alert and security-conscious. If they observe any suspicious individuals or activities, they are encouraged to report them to the nearest police station. Cooperation and vigilance are crucial for maintaining a safe and peaceful environment for all.
The Abia State commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence has deployed an additional 800 officers and men to enhance security and ensure a smooth celebration, as stated in a statement issued by the Head, Public Relations Unit, NSCDC, Ndukwe Egwu.
The state commandant made this disclosure at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia during the Weekly Mustard Parade on Monday.
He mentioned that the deployed personnel were drawn from Area Commands, Divisions, Tactical Units, and Special Forces to provide adequate backup to operatives already carrying out routine security duties.
He commended Officers and Men of the Command for their excellent performance during the recent Easter celebration and urged them to keep up the good work.
