While Trump struggles with the abortion issue, President Joe Biden has a direct message for America as he describes the former president.
In a statement released by his presidential campaign, Biden shared:
Donald Trump once again made it clear that he bears the most responsibility for ending Roe v. Wade and creating the chaos after the Dobbs decision.
Trump previously suggested punishment for women seeking reproductive health care, and now women are being denied medical attention, forced to seek court permission, and traveling long distances for health care. Due to Trump, many women in America face extreme and dangerous bans on abortion, putting their lives at risk and threatening doctors with prosecution. Trump also fails to disclose that the MAGA Republicans he controls in Congress have proposed bills that could ban fertility treatments and that the Speaker of the House he empowered strongly supports a national abortion ban. If Trump is elected and the MAGA Republicans put a national abortion ban on his desk, he will sign it into law.
Donald Trump fails to understand that by overturning Roe v. Wade, he took away a fundamental right for American women, which the United States Supreme Court had affirmed for 50 years. Restoring federal protections for Roe v. Wade is a top priority for Biden, to ensure that the fundamental right to choose for women will once again be upheld lawfully throughout the country.
Trump is simply not telling the truth. There was no widespread support in America for overturning Roe. In fact, support for Roe is higher today than ever before. The reality is that Trump made a political promise in 2016 to appoint a Court that would eliminate Roe and felt obligated to fulfill that promise, primarily for political reasons.
Trump essentially confesses in his statement today that, after causing the chaos of overturning Roe, he is now trying to downplay it and focus on winning.
Trump is in a panic because he is worried that he will be blamed by voters in 2024 for overturning Roe v. Wade. However, I want to tell Donald that the voters will indeed hold him accountable. America was founded on personal freedom and liberty, so there is nothing more un-American than having our personal freedoms taken away. And that is exactly what Donald Trump has done.
As I have mentioned many times since the Dobbs decision, Donald Trump and all those responsible for overturning Roe do not understand the power of women in America. But they are about to realize it.
Biden understands that the issue of reproductive freedom is one of the most important and it will be a top priority for millions of voters when they vote in the fall. America cannot afford to have a presidential candidate who lacks the courage to do what the majority of the country wants. The vast majority of Americans want the government to not dictate to women what kind of healthcare they can have.
Trump is adopting the extreme right-wing stance on abortion while also trying to distance himself from it. Biden was prepared for Trump’s abortion spin, and he is going to prevent the convicted fraudster from misleading a majority of the population out of their rights.
