The anti-corruption agency, EFCC, has refuted claims by the Federal Inland Revenue Service that it blocked the delivery of legal documents to a Binance executive.
The EFCC announced this in a statement by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Friday.
The EFCC stated that the claim was false, misleading, and not based on the court's facts.
Oyewale explained, "The EFCC wishes to respond to a news article in a major national newspaper titled: 'EFCC Stopped Service of Charges on Binance Chief, FIRS Alleges'.
This report is false, misleading, and not based on the court's facts.
"The EFCC was never approached by a court official to deliver charges to any of the Binance executives in its custody.
At the last court session, the counsel for the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Moses Ideh, did not raise such a complaint in court. He only informed the court that the Service had not yet served the defendants.
"Therefore, the commission considers the news item absurd and shameful. The public is urged to completely disregard it.
