Alonso said on Friday that it's too soon to discuss the Bundesliga title, even though his team is 13 points ahead in the standings.
Leverkusen could clinch their first Bundesliga title next week, depending on how second-placed Bayern Munich performs.
Alonso told reporters that in football, anything can happen, and it's still too early to make assumptions.
He mentioned that they are in a strong position but are not yet focusing on the title, instead concentrating on the next opponent.
Leverkusen will play Union Berlin on Saturday while Bayern travel to Heidenheim.
Alonso's team is approaching a successful season, having also secured a spot in the German Cup final with a 4-0 win over Fortuna Duesseldorf and maintaining an unbeaten streak of 40 games this season.
Alonso, who previously expressed his commitment to stay at Leverkusen despite interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich, noted that both the players and the fans are staying grounded and focused on the next game, without getting ahead of themselves with the possibility of winning multiple titles.
In 2002, Leverkusen was in a similar position but ended up losing out on all three titles despite being ahead in the league and making it to the finals of the German Cup and Champions League.
He emphasized that the fans have patience and are aware of the past, choosing not to celebrate prematurely.
According to Alonso, it's not yet time to celebrate, but rather to stay dedicated and prepared for what lies ahead.
Alonso confirmed that Victor Boniface, who returned from injury to play for the first time in 2024 against Duesseldorf on Wednesday, will not start on Saturday.
He mentioned that while Boniface could start, they've decided not to play him from the beginning.
Alonso expressed that it was beneficial for Boniface to have played about 25 minutes on Wednesday and that they aim to assist his proper recovery and well-being.
He stressed that they require Boniface's contribution.
