The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has given the green light for the advancement of 10,581 worthy lower-ranking officers in the Inspectorate cadre, and the rank and file.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced this in a statement on Friday.
Adejobi mentioned, “The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has permitted the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers of the inspectorate cadre, and the rank and file. In compliance with this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration has been assigned to coordinate efforts with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to start the promotion process promptly.
“The promotions consist of 9,831 police constables designated for promotion to the rank of corporal; 81 corporals to move up to the rank of sergeant; and 669 officers set to move from the rank of sergeants to inspectors.”
The IG, while highlighting the commitment of the force leadership to promote a culture of meritocracy and career progression, reiterated the crucial role of timely promotions in boosting the morale of officers and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the force.
He pointed out that this is a key part of sustaining the ongoing manpower development initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force. He, however, reassured that promotions in the Force will be based solely on merit.
The Nigeria Police Force also extended congratulations to all officers slated for promotion and urged them to maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
