Wyoming Valley West beat Berwick 5-2 in a baseball game on Thursday. Mason Matello hit a home run and Tyler Ruddy brought in a run with four hits.
Valley West's Jacob Stevens also scored a run. Evan Harcher pitched for five innings to win, and Gunner Giza pitched the final 1.2 innings to save the game.
Berwick's Greyson Kupsky hit a double and Cole Phillips pitched 5.2 innings, striking out nine and giving up one earned run.
The game was moved to Berwick’s turf field. The teams will play again on April 22 at Valley West.
SOFTBALL
Lake-Lehman won 15-0 against Nanticoke Area in a four-inning softball game. Hannah Chipego scored nine strikeouts and four runs.
Lucy Honeywell had a triple and two RBI, while Haylee Makarawicz was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored for Lake-Lehman.
Kelsey Clark had the only hits for Nanticoke Area with a double and a single.
The game was moved to Lehman’s turf field. The teams will play again on April 24 at Nanticoke Area.
Wyoming Area won 107-24 against Hanover Area.
BOYS TRACK
Four Warriors won two events each in their victory over Hanover Area.
Luke Kopetchny won the triple and long jumps, Gage Speece won the 100 and 200 dashes, Colby Walsh won the 800 and 1,600 runs, and Josh Mruk won the shot put and javelin.
Hanover Area got wins from Noah Dewey (high jump) and Anthony Anderson (400).
Wyoming Area won 126-14 against Hanover Area.
GIRLS TRACK
Wyoming Area won almost all events in their victory over Hanover Area.
Taylor Gashi won the high and triple jumps, Bella Costa won the 100 and 200 dashes, Ella McKernan won the 400 dash and 300 hurdles, and Adrianna Fanti won the discus and javelin.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Hazleton Area won 3-0 against Lake-Lehman in volleyball.
The Cougars won with scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-6.
Kendrick Ortiz, Scott Bersavage, Antonio Tavarez, and Ronny Rodriguez led the win with their performances.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Crestwood won 19-3 against North Pocono.
Morgan Koons made her 400th save as Crestwood defeated North Pocono.
Gia Caporuscio, Jordan Andrews, Hannah Ziegler, Jackie Gallagher, Lucy Malia, Addison Knorr, and Aubrey Marci contributed to the scoring for Crestwood.
Amaya Monacelli scored all the goals for North Pocono.
Wyoming Seminary won 13-12 against Dallas.
Sienna Popple scored four goals to help Wyoming Seminary defeat Dallas.
Ellie Kersey, Emerson Swartz, Kylie Romanchik, Violet Coates, and Ryleigh McDonnell also contributed to the win.
Ireland Walsh scored six goals for Dallas, with support from Gabby Rogaski and Ella English.
Tunkhannock won 21-1 against Wilkes-Barre Area.
Kayla Griffin scored five goals and Harley Appleby had four as Tunkhannock defeated Wilkes-Barre Area.
Maddy Bevan got three goals for Tunkhannock. Aliyah Staff scored twice.
Anna Vitazi got a goal for WBA.
