You know Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, but now there's a new detective pair in town who are not alive. The first complete trailer for 'Dead Boy Detectives' has been released, and it includes many supernatural beings.
The new series, starting on Netflix on April 25, follows Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), two ghosts who solve mysteries involving other ghosts. They are known as the Dead Boy Detective Agency, and they work to solve supernatural crimes that regular police and detectives cannot.
The problem is, “these two boys are cheating death.” This warning comes from Ruth Connell’s Night Nurse, who appeared in an episode of the Max DC series “Doom Patrol.” So, Edwin and Charles are running away from Death herself.
“Dead Boy Detectives” is from Neil Gaiman, who is also responsible for the universe of “The Sandman.” In the trailer, we briefly see Kirby (formerly known professionally as Kirby Howell Baptiste) reprising her role as Death from the Netflix series.
The trailer shows some of the dead boys’ most dangerous cases, and the spooky characters they encounter, all set to My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade.” They also make some friends, even though Edwin is hesitant to let one of them join the agency.
“Dead Boy Detectives” was created for TV by Steve Yockey (“The Flight Attendant”), who wrote the initial episode and is in charge of the show along with Beth Schwartz (“Legends of Tomorrow”).
Greg Berlanti, Yockey, Schwartz, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Gaiman are the executive producers of the series from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
