For the second night in a row, rain caused the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders home opener to be cancelled.
The RailRiders called off Wednesday night’s game with the Syracuse Mets because of bad weather, and the decision was made in the afternoon.
This happened after Tuesday’s game, which was supposed to be the team’s first game of the year at PNC Field, also got canceled due to heavy rain in the area.
The team announced that Tuesday’s game will now be part of a doubleheader with the Mets on Saturday. The gates will open at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the first game starting at 2:05 p.m.
Both games will be shortened to seven innings, and the second game will begin about 40 minutes after the first one ends.
Wednesday night’s game will be rescheduled for another time.
The RailRiders’ next opportunity to hold their home opener will be on Thursday, with a 6:35 p.m. start against Syracuse at PNC Field.
