The Labour Party announced on Wednesday that Julius Abure, the party's national chairman, had his house destroyed by fire early in the day.
The party's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, communicated this in a statement on Wednesday.
He also alleged that it was a murder attempt on the chairman.
The statement stated, “His residence was destroyed by a strange fire which began shortly after 1am while Abure and his family were asleep.
“According to a family member who described the incident, the family was awakened by neighbors and security staff in the compound who sounded the alarm.
“The entire family were trapped as the fire had reached the staircase, preventing Abure and family from getting out.
“However, it took divine intervention for the national chairman and his family to escape after neighbors and security staff bravely broke down one of the upstairs windows, creating an exit for the family.
“Fire Service personnel arrived shortly after Abure and his family were rescued.
“Abure and his family were taken to a private hospital where they are currently receiving medical care. Their status is, however, stable.
