The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority cautioned drivers to follow speed limits when using the newly fixed Third Mainland Bridge.
The agency's spokesperson, Adebayo Toafiq, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He encouraged drivers to pay attention to all traffic signs and technology used for traffic control.
On March 30, the Lagos State Government announced the scheduled reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge on April 4, 2024.
Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.
In the message, it was stated, "Dear Lagos residents, We are happy to announce that the Third Mainland Bridge will be fully operational again on April 4, 2024, after major repairs."
In late March, the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works inspected the bridge's repairs and other Federal Government projects in Lagos.
To ensure the safety of drivers and swift rescue efforts on the bridge, LASTMA will deploy staff, patrol cars, and recovery vehicles.
He stated, "The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has cautioned drivers to respect speed limits while using the newly renovated Third Mainland Bridge that links the Mainland and other parts of the state.
"Drivers should be mindful of time and plan their journey in advance to avoid unnecessary speeding on the bridge and other connecting roads across the state.
The agency will deploy additional personnel, patrol cars, and recovery vehicles to ensure drivers' safety and prompt rescue assistance on the bridge.
