“The View” has experienced mysterious interruptions while on-air, but the distraction on Tuesday morning seemed to worry Whoopi Goldberg and her cohosts more than usual. This time, the studio lights appeared to flicker.
The incident occurred at the beginning of the show, as the ABC hosts started talking about a recent social media post from Donald Trump. In the post, he reposted an image showing President Biden bound and gagged. For Whoopi, the main question was why Trump's repost of the image didn’t immediately receive as much scrutiny and criticism as when comedian Kathy Griffin posted a photo holding a decapitated Trump head.
“Will the Secret Service visit him and give him a warning?” she asked.
Sunny Hostin agreed that “they should,” and as she started sharing her full thoughts on the matter, she became distracted and looked upward.
“Uh oh,” she said. “Someone’s speaking to us, the lights are flickering!”
At the same time, Whoopi herself became a bit worried and looked around to confirm that she and Hostin weren’t the only ones who noticed.
“Do you see it? No. Does anybody else see the lights flicker?” she asked the room. “OK. OK.”
As she glanced at the audience, Hostin jokingly asked if Whoopi did “anything bad this weekend” that might’ve caused the sudden surge. Whoopi did not answer, but continued the conversation.
