The Ondo State Police Command stated on Tuesday that it has not apprehended anyone regarding the looting of a truck transporting items believed to be palliatives on Ondo-Akure Expressway.
A group of Akure residents assaulted a truck on Monday evening.
The truck, traveling from Ondo town to Akure, broke down on the roadside. Residents of the Adebowale area then looted the vehicle after discovering its contents.
A source in the area revealed that the looters, upon seeing the packaged foodstuffs with the image of President Bola Tinubu, assembled at the location and stole the items.
A source stated that the majority of those who looted the truck were Okada riders and artisans in the area.
Upon realizing that the truck contained foodstuffs and other items, they gathered at the scene and looted as many cartons as possible.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, mentioned that the command is currently investigating the incident, with no arrests made at this time.
