The 44-year-old left-winger, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, became the youngest president of Senegal after winning the first round and promising significant changes. He took the oath in front of hundreds of officials and several African leaders at an exhibition centre in the new town of Diamniadio near Dakar.
“I promise to faithfully fulfill the duties of President of Senegal before God and the Senegalese nation,” stated the 44-year-old before a large audience.
