The 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, stated on Tuesday that it handed over a substance weighing 223Kg to the Ogun State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency. The substance, suspected to be cannabis sativa, was intercepted from a Mazda bus with number plate NRK 622 SB at Mologbede village in Odeda Local Government Area of the state on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Lt Mohammed Goni, the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations of the Brigade, mentioned this in a statement sent to journalists on Tuesday.
Goni mentioned that the troops of the brigade seized the substance at Mologbede village in Odeda Local Government Area of the state on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, the Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade, thanked the troops for their effort and encouraged them to remain vigilant in their respective locations.
The NDLEA Ogun State Command, Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili, expressed excitement over the cooperation between the military and other security agencies in the state.
Odili mentioned that General Aminu has been very supportive of NDLEA operations, leading to significant successes for the agency.
Odili noted that it wasn't the first time a large quantity of Cannabis Sativa was intercepted by the military and handed over to the agency.
She also mentioned that with the military's support, the NDLEA was able to overcome obstacles, dismantle drug syndicates, and make significant progress in its overall drug fighting efforts.
