A pair of people from Winnipeg were arrested in June of last year in a situation involving gunfire from a rifle coming out of a window, and the police claim they have connections to other crimes.
Besides the shooting arrest on June 15, 2023, where nobody got hurt and the police also seized crack cocaine, the two men are now facing charges related to another shooting incident on the previous day, close to Magnus Avenue and Main Street. The police say that one of the suspects had a 12-gauge shotgun and fired it recklessly multiple times, hitting an empty vehicle.
They are also accused of trying to steal from a hotel on St. Mary Avenue around 12:40 a.m. the next morning, using bear spray on two employees but failing to steal anything.
Winnipeg police collaborated with officers in Nelson, B.C., to capture one of the suspects the previous week, as the police claim he had left Manitoba in December 2023, breaking the conditions of his release.
He was found Wednesday at a home in the Nelson area, where he was arrested based on a Canada-wide warrant. He was wanted on a total of eight warrants and also faces various charges related to weapons, as well as robbery and failure to comply with the law. He has since been handed over to Winnipeg police and flown back to Manitoba.
According to the police, the second suspect was already imprisoned at Milner Ridge Correctional Facility for unrelated offenses and was arrested again on February 17.
Both are still in custody.
