The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Anthony Aziegbemi, talked about his experience being kidnapped as a terrible ordeal that he wouldn't want anyone else to experience.
Aziegbemi said this on Sunday night when the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, visited him at his house.
Gunmen abducted Aziegbemi near his home on March 15 at around 11pm on Idaro Street, off Country Home Road, Benin, Edo State. https://punchng.com/gunmen-abduct-edo-pdp-chairman/
Aziegbemi had just left a meeting at the Government House and was driving home when he was kidnapped in front of his driver who was trying to go over a speed bump.
After spending 11 days in the kidnappers' den, he was eventually released. https://punchng.com/abducted-edo-pdp-chairman-regains-freedom/
The PDP boss arrived at his home around 3am last Tuesday where his family members were waiting for him after his 11 days in captivity. The kidnappers demanded N500 million ransom but it's unclear if it was paid for his release.
Aziegbemi shared the difficult moments he went through with Shaibu and his team.
He mentioned that he wouldn't want anyone, not even his worst enemies, to go through what he experienced in the kidnappers' den, recalling the trauma and fears he faced during his captivity.
He stated, "I wouldn't want anyone, not even my worst enemies, to go through what I went through in the kidnappers' den. The experience was traumatizing and again, I wouldn't want that for anyone."
The deputy governor, who mentioned that he had a personal bond with the Aziegbemis, was very happy and thankful for his safe return.
"We came to celebrate Easter with our chairman and also thank God for his safe return home from the den of kidnappers. Don't forget I am the godfather to Aziegbemi's twin-babies, which shows I have a personal bond with the Aziegbemis," Shaibu noted.
