Maia Eyre has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Creative Development at Columbia Pictures, a part of Sony Pictures.
She will report to Sanford Panitch, who is the president of Sony’s Motion Picture Group.
Eyre recently supervised the unexpected box office success “Anyone but You,” a romantic comedy starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, which made over $214 million worldwide despite being rated R. She is currently involved in the development of a sequel to “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for “Do Revenge.”
Other projects Eyre has been involved in include the successful “Peter Rabbit” series, which has made more than $500 million globally, and the popular “Escape Room” horror series, which has earned over $223 million worldwide. She also collaborated with Andrea Giannetti on the lucrative “Jumanji” series, with a worldwide earnings of over $2 billion, and Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed “Little Women,” which also made $220 million globally.
Eyre is originally from Canada and moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to attend the MFA Producer’s Program at UCLA. She started her career at Sony after getting an internship at TriStar Pictures.
