Oluwaseun Wahab, who is the WBO Africa champion, will be part of the undercard for the 'Ring of Fire' fight night. This event will feature WBC champion Tyson Fury and unified heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed bout on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, according to The PUNCH.
Wahab is scheduled to fight the undefeated British boxer Mark Chamberlain in a 10-round lightweight match at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
The Nigerian boxer has a strong record of 23 wins and one loss, with 16 of his victories by knockout, while the Brit has an undefeated record of 15 victories and 11 KOs. This sets the stage for an entertaining clash between the two boxers.
Although unbeaten in Africa, Wahab suffered his only career loss when he debuted in the UK against Liam Dillon at York Hall, Bethnal Green in London.
Wahab experienced a majority decision loss in the fight. However, he redeemed himself with an 11th round technical knockout victory over Sikiru Shogbesan to defend his title in the main event of the 'Rumble in Lasgidi' event in 2023.
The WBO Africa super-featherweight champion aims to secure another victory as he participates in the star-studded event in Saudi Arabia.
Turki Al al-Sheikh, the organizer of the Riyadh Season event series, commented on the fight card for the boxing event featuring Usyk and Fury. He stated that it is a strong card for all boxing fans, containing several compelling matchups that could have been headline events.
Turki Al al-Sheikh wrote on Facebook, “If you are looking for low-quality or strange 'circus' fights, you won't find them here. We are dedicated to providing exceptional fight cards for the fans.”
Fury's underwhelming performance in his last fight against Francis Ngannou, where he struggled to a points win, has led many in the boxing world to now consider Usyk as the favorite to defeat the 'Gypsy King.'
However, the WBC champion is still confident about becoming the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
