The Archbishop, Catholic Archdiocese, Alfred Martins, has urged the Federal Government to announce a state of emergency in the food industry to deal with lack and hunger in the country.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Director, Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese, Anthony Godonu, on Sunday.
According to the statement, Martins criticized the killing of soldiers in Okuama community, Delta State, and urged the federal and state governments to ensure that the offenders faced the full force of the law.
He encouraged soldiers to show restraint and allow the rule of law to prevail, emphasizing the need for immediate action to protect the lives of the citizens and improve the welfare of law enforcement officers.
The statement partly read, “While calling for more strict measures to address insecurity, the Archbishop also urged the Federal Government to announce a state of emergency in the food sector to address the intense hunger and lack being experienced by Nigerians due to the poor state of the economy.”
