The police say a man assaulted and threatened to kill a woman walking with her children in Toronto after they talked to each other.
The Toronto police stated that they are now attempting to identify the suspect.
At around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, officers went to the Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East area in response to a call about an unknown problem.
The victim and her children were walking from Don Mills Subway Station when a man said something about the children, leading the victim to respond to the man, police reported.
The man then approached the woman and began kicking her, according to the police.
He then grabbed an object and repeatedly hit the woman on the head with it, the police said.
This caused the woman to drop and break her phone, the police explained.
The man also threatened to kill the victim, according to the police.
He reportedly ran away from the area on foot.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the police said.
The woman's children were unharmed in the incident, according to the police.
The suspect is described by the police as being 30 to 40 years old, five-foot-two to five-foot-six tall, of medium build, with a black mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a black toque, black gloves, a black jacket, a blue vest, and black pants.
He is wanted for assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and mischief under $5,000, according to the police.
Anyone with information was urged to step forward.
