One individual has been declared dead following a fire in Markham, Ont., as per local authorities.
Shortly after 3 p.m., first responders were alerted to a fire on Reesor Road.
According to a representative from York Region, which oversees local paramedic services, an ambulance, special response ambulance, and superintendent were dispatched to the location.
“One patient was declared VSA on scene,” the representative stated. VSA represents vital signs absent.
According to Toronto fire officials, they were asked to assist Markham firefighters with the fire, which was located in the attic of a residence.
A spokesperson from York Regional Police is scheduled to visit the site on Monday evening.
Markham Fire Services and Emergency Services did not respond to inquiries before the publication deadline.
