Two houses sustained significant damage from a fire on Sunday afternoon in Stony Plain, Alta.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., firefighters were alerted to the location of Glenforest Crescent off 57th Avenue in The Glens neighborhood.
“Because of the fire's size, we asked for help from our partner fire departments, Spruce Grove and Parkland County,” commented Trevor Mistal, the fire Chief of Stony Plain, in a news release.
“A total of 33 firefighters collaborated to extinguish the fire.”
Mistal thinks the fire originated in a shed and swiftly spread to the two residences. No other homes in the cul-de-sac were affected, according to Mistal.
“The fire was brought under control within an hour, and no one was hurt,” he stated.
The occupants of both homes were present at the time and managed to exit safely.
Other nearby residences were also evacuated.
An inquiry is now being conducted by the Stony Plain Fire Department.
