Controversial social media critic, Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman, has been released from police custody in Abuja.
Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed his release on Sunday.
Adeyanju posted on X, thanking everyone who helped secure VDM’s release after five days of negotiations, especially Sowore, Kefiano, and VDM’s lawyers.
According to former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, the 27-year-old was detained for alleged cyberbullying.
Sowore accused the police of misusing their power and colluding with influential people to oppress others.
This is the second time the critic has been arrested this year.
In January, he was reportedly arrested after actress Tonto Dikeh filed a petition over comments made in the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad’s case.
The critic had accused Dikeh and her colleague, Iyabo Ojo, of seeking attention with the late singer’s death.
