The hosts of “Weekend Update,” Colin Jost and Michael Che, made jokes on the recent “Saturday Night Live,” focusing on Donald Trump’s $60 “God Bless the USA” Bibles.
Jost joked that Trump's special Bible, which supports the former president's campaign, is unique. In Trump's version, Jesus' disciples storm Jerusalem to reverse the crucifixion's outcome.
“Donald Trump collaborated with Lee Greenwood to sell a $60 special Bible edition with the Constitution, Greenwood’s song lyrics, and, I assume, God's resignation letter,” Jost humorously introduced the segment.
He continued, “This Bible is mostly the same, but Trump’s version ends with Jesus’ disciples storming Jerusalem to overturn the results of the crucifixion.”
Jost and Che also exchanged comments on the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse in Baltimore. Jost mentioned the cargo ship's content of “You won’t believe it—Boeing airplanes,” to which Che joked about President Biden's disconnect with Black communities, like the bridge.
Che expressed disappointment about Ronna McDaniel's firing from NBC, comparing her to a “drag version of Ronald McDonald.” Jost then shared about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signing a bill to ban social media accounts for younger teens.
“But Florida’s older teenagers can keep their social media accounts because they need a place to post their sonograms,” he concluded.
