Community members in Fort Nelson have been told that the local emergency department is temporarily closed.
The closure of Fort Nelson General Hospital is from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and is because there aren't enough nurses to cover shifts.
Northern Health said if anyone needs emergency care, they should still call 911 for a ride to the closest facility.
However, the closest emergency department is in Fort St. John, which is about a four-hour drive away.
Fort Nelson is not the only Northern Health community facing emergency room closures. Prince Rupert's emergency department has closed ten times just in March, all because of staffing problems.
All of those closures are also due to staffing issues.
