In this review of the Luzerne County Pizza Trail, we were fortunate to have two individuals who tasted the food at The Dough Company on separate occasions.
Allison's choice for the Luzerne County Pizza Trail was The Dough Company on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre, a place she has been familiar with since it opened in 1985. During her time working at the Wyoming Valley Mall, she would frequently visit for a quick, affordable meal. She has always found the restaurant to be very efficient, with prompt service and a family-friendly environment. She remembers placing orders over the phone and appreciates the staff's commitment to calling when the order is ready, a system that has consistently worked for her.
During her visit on a Friday during Lent, Allison decided on a medium round pizza with half mushrooms, refraining from her favorite bacon pizza due to Lenten restrictions. She enjoyed the slightly sweet sauce and the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce on her pizza.
The menu at The Dough Company caters to a variety of preferences and dietary requirements, offering gluten-free and wheat crusts, vegetarian mozzarella, gourmet pizzas, strombolis, and pasta. Allison also observed the dinner specials and the highly praised chicken pot pie, indicating that she might consider trying it in the future, although she tends to stick to her favorites due to her selective eating habits.
With reasonable prices and a friendly staff, Allison intends to remain a loyal customer. The Dough Company is open from Monday to Saturday, with lunch service on Fridays and Saturdays, and Allison enthusiastically suggests a visit for a satisfying meal.
Katie, who also visited The Dough Company, highlighted their daily specials, which are advertised on their Facebook page, website, and app. She mentioned a special for “PI” day offering two large pizzas for $22.99 and pointed out that the restaurant promotes its specials on the front door and through the servers. Katie praised the value for the prices and the amicable customer service, adding her endorsement to Allison's recommendation.
Katie ordered one pizza with extra cheese and another with sausage. She also suggests trying the pastas or hoagies.
The sauce has a pleasant taste, and the cheese was well mixed. The ratio of cheese to sauce was very well balanced with just the right amount of each. The crust was crispy enough to hold the pizza together without being burnt.
It appears that both Allison and Katie plan to return.
