Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has stated that he did not plan for Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, to escape after his son's death.
Aloba, in response to comments made by the deceased's mother, Bosede Adeyemo, mentioned that he had never encountered Primeboy since the incident occurred.
Adeyemo claimed in the interview that her ex-husband instructed Primeboy, a childhood friend of Mohbad, to run away to avoid arrest and implication in the late singer's death.
However, Mohbad’s father, through his lawyer, Monisola Odumosu, stated on Friday that he had only met Primeboy once, during his appearance at the coroner’s court.
The statement indicated, “Our client wishes to state that he did not and has not had any talks or discussions relating to the death of his son or any other issues with the said Primeboy since the death of his son, Ilerioluwa Aloba.
“The only time they met after the death of his son was at the coroner’s court sitting where Primeboy and our client only exchanged pleasantries in the presence of everyone, and there was no discussions between them.
The statement also criticized Adeyemo's claim and emphasized that Mohbad’s father is seeking justice for his late son.
“Mr. Joseph Aloba will not cover anyone no matter how great or mighty the person may be. He is after justice for the untimely snuffing out of the life of his great son. He uses this opportunity to urge Primeboy to tell the Coroner Court all what he knows without shielding anyone.
“The truth will surely come out even if it takes time. Our client believes that the will of justice may be slow, it will surely grind to the truth.
“We urge the general public to disregard such spurious assertions. Rather, our client urges Ms. Adeyemo to declare what she knows about the death of Mohbad,” the statement added.
Mohbad was a signee under Marlian Records owned by Afeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley.
Following his death, Marley and a popular Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry; were arrested and interrogated by the Lagos State Police Command to give accounts of what they knew about Mohbad’s death.
Primeboy was also declared wanted by the state police command on October 4, 2023, after which he turned himself in two days later.
On March 12, Primeboy visited the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, with one Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending,
Part of the bail conditions granted him during Mohbad’s case was that “he would come to the State CID every Tuesday to sign just to keep an eye on him so that he wouldn’t run away,” according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
