As the deadline of March 31, 2024 approaches, the Federal Government's 3 Million Technical Talent program is experiencing technical problems on the platform, causing many Nigerians to be stuck in their registration process.
Applicants expressed their complaints to the official 3MTT handle on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.
The complaints included reports of errors in the questionnaire, problems saving profiles, and other technical issues, presenting a grim picture of the registration process.
The 3MTT program was set up last year to train three million technical talents to support Nigeria's digital economy, position the country as an exporter of talent, and create two million digital jobs by 2025.
The first group of 30,000 people underwent training in 12 skill areas over the past few months: Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis & Visualisation, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/MMachine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing, Dev Ops
A user named Baker Joe wrote, "I've been attempting to do the questionnaire test on my dashboard for the past four days, but it's showing an error. What should I do to fix this?"
Loluwa mentioned, "I just got an email stating that I won't be onboarded if I don't accept the program's terms and conditions. The deadline for this is tomorrow, and the onboarding session is Thursday. Can this be addressed? Is the maintenance still ongoing?"
Sunday Taiwo wrote, "I believe registration is still open, but I've been trying to register for four days now, and it keeps showing an error message. It gives me the same error message every time I try to submit my application."
Kingsley Ekong revealed, "I applied for the cyber security program and was asked to take a questionnaire test. However, every time I click it, it says there's a questionnaire error, preventing me from starting my training.
Simdy noted, "Hello, I've been attempting to complete the questionnaire test on my dashboard for over a week, but it's showing an error. How can I fix this to finish my application?"
Meanwhile, on March 8, the 3MTT team stated that the platform was undergoing a system upgrade, possibly contributing to the registration challenges.
The 3MTT team stated, "Dear #3MTT Fellows, we are undergoing a system upgrade that may affect your access to your dashboard. Consequently, we have decided to extend the deadline for profile updates to March 31, 2024.
"This will give you enough time to update your profile without any inconvenience. Please know that we are working hard to ensure a smooth experience for you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy leading the program, announced last month that an additional 270,000 Nigerians had joined the program and would be trained over the next 18 months.
Providing an update on X, the minister wrote, "As we conclude the first phase of the @3MTTNigeria program, I am happy to offer an update on our progress so far.
The announcement of the chosen participants for the next phase of the 3MTT program is set to be made on Thursday, February 29, 2024, and the training is expected to start in March.
