For 45 weeks now, Scottie Scheffler has been the top player in the Official World Golf Ranking, holding the top spot for the fourth time in his career on May 21, 2023. And based on his recent performance, it seems unlikely that he will give up the position anytime soon.
Scheffler has been the top-ranked player for a total of 80 weeks during his four reigns, but he still has a long way to go to match Tiger WoodsTiger Woods' all-time record of 683 weeks at the top of the OWGR. However, if he wins at the Texas Children’s Houston Open that began on March 28, the 27-year-old could join Woods in an exclusive group of players who have won three consecutive starts.

Woods is one of only four players since the year 2000 to win three straight starts, with the others being Vijay Singh, Rory McIlroy, and Dustin Johnson, who last accomplished this in 2017. Like Scheffler, each of these players has also held the top spot in the world rankings.
So, after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, Scheffler has the opportunity to join a very exclusive group if he can secure a victory in Houston, a place where he has some fond memories.
