In a news release before 5 a.m., police stated that 'there is no risk to the public at this time.'
The closures are having a big effect on people from Calgary who are trying to drive into the downtown area.
The Fifth Avenue flyover was also closed, although some vehicles were seen using that road by a Global News crew. It wasn't clear how they managed to get through.
The Reconciliation Bridge, the Fourth Avenue flyover, and the Fifth Avenue flyover are all shut down in both directions for both vehicles and pedestrians as the police and emergency crews work in the area. People are advised to plan different routes as there will be significant delays getting to downtown.
More information will be provided later.
