The Native Women’s Association of Canada says it had to lay off about half of its employees because of a significant decrease in federal funding.

Last year, the organization received $48 million in grants for apprenticeship programs and other initiatives. This year, its revenue dropped to $10 million.
The organization is asking the federal government for more consistent funding.
