An inmate at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility who is accused of using his half brother’s identity to gain freedom will be charged with escape in county court in WILKES-BARRE.
According to court records, Billy Partington, 30, is facing an escape charge for allegedly pretending to be his incarcerated half-brother, Drake Partington, 22, to be released on $75,000 bail on Jan. 26.
Drake Partington was in jail for reportedly stabbing a man inside his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Hanover Township on Jan. 24. When bail was posted for Drake Partington, the booking and records unit called for “Partington,” and Billy Partington was taken from his cell to be released.
During the release process, Billy Partington reportedly did not correct the prison staff and signed a discharge document that had a picture and physical description of Drake Partington.
On Jan. 31, Billy Partington was apprehended by Wilkes-Barre police.
After a preliminary hearing in Luzerne County Central Court, District Judge Kyle Halesey sent the escape charge against Billy Partington to county court.
