Years in the making, Kicking Horse Canyon construction along the Trans-Canada Highway in B.C. will have its final touches completed in the upcoming spring and summer months.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Transportation announced that there will be lane closures and short delays as the final phase of work begins in April.
That construction will begin on Tuesday, April 2, with the highway being reduced to one lane in each direction for the entire project.
“This will allow crews to safely finish paving, line painting, wildlife fencing and landscaping,” said the ministry, and reminded drivers to follow signs and be aware of traffic-control personnel.
As well as some minor delays, the ministry said there will be full, two-hour closures on specific dates, subject to change.

The speed limit will be 50 km/h during construction.
