Unknown attackers have burned down the police divisional headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It is reported that the hooligans entered the building early on Thursday and threw explosive devices that caused damage to parts of the structure.
An individual from the area mentioned that the hooligans tried to release some inmates, but the police officers on duty stopped them.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack and stated that no one was killed.
“In Nneni, no life was lost. No policeman was kidnapped, and no weapons were taken. Instead, the hooligans threw explosive devices into the police facility, causing damage to part of the building.
“Our officers bravely resisted the attackers, causing them to flee. Operations are still ongoing, and further developments will be communicated,” Ikenga said.
