Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface, is looking forward to getting back into the game after completing his full training following an injury he got during Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations preparation camp in January.
The 23-year-old was supposed to be out of action until April, but he has recovered quickly and is set to play for Leverkusen in their Bundesliga match against TSG Hoffenheim this weekend.
Before the match-day 27 game, Boniface admitted that he is eager to play for his club again.
“The team performed very well in my absence. When I joined Leverkusen, I mentioned that I don't focus on rankings or individual scores,” Boniface stated via Sport Bild.
“Certainly, goals and assists are important, but what matters most to me is being able to contribute to the team with my playing style and simply enjoying myself. I really miss being on the pitch with my teammates and hope to return soon.”
Prior to his injury, he scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 23 matches across all competitions for Die Werkself this season.
Boniface’s comeback will strengthen Leverkusen’s pursuit of their first Bundesliga title, as they remain undefeated after 26 matches and currently hold a 10-point lead over Bayern Munich.
