The government at all levels has been urged to take action to address food insecurity, as the ongoing economic hardship is still affecting Nigerians.
An organization called The Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye Foundation stated that addressing food insecurity would provide relief to millions of Nigerians experiencing the negative effects of the economic downturn.
Dr Yomi-Sholoye, the Founder, urged the government to swiftly deal with hunger caused by increasing inflation in society.
She suggested increasing military operations in states with insecurity to enable farmers to freely cultivate and harvest their produce for Nigerians.
Yomi-Sholoye pointed out that the current high inflation, negatively affecting Nigerians, is primarily due to insecurity in certain states.
She called on state governors to do more to alleviate the economic hardship faced by many Nigerian families.
She urged governments to take more action to address hunger, insecurity, and food shortage in the nation.
She mentioned that instead of celebrating with families and friends, she decided to mark her birthday by celebrating with children in orphanages, the destitute, and those facing hardship in Nigeria today.
She explained that the Feeding Thousands initiative for her birthday was inspired by the current hardship in the country and aimed to help the less privileged in society.
She appreciated the efforts of some governors, like Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Prof Babagana Zulum of Borno State, in alleviating the economic hardships faced by citizens and encouraged others to follow suit.
She called on prosperous Nigerians to assist the government in helping the vulnerable and the less privileged who are in great need.
Locations where the Feed the Thousands operation took place include various orphanages and markets in Lagos.
The foundation also takes pride in providing scholarships to students, creating jobs, and contributing to community development, among other activities.
