Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps officers apprehended 13 individuals on Thursday for walking across the road rather than using the pedestrian bridge at Oshodi Oke area of the state.
The state's Environment and Water Resources Commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, revealed this in a video posted on his X handle on Thursday.
He stated, “Despite repeated warnings from #LAGESCOfficial, 13 people were taken into custody at around 8:30 am this morning for not utilizing the pedestrian bridge at Oshodi Oke.
“They have been taken to court for prosecution.”
On Wednesday, Wahab cautioned residents that “crossing the highway where there is a pedestrian bridge is an offence” and urged them to use the pedestrian bridges.
He also mentioned that the government removed troublemakers occupying the pedestrian bridge in Ikota, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.
Wahab stated, “Miscreants sleeping on the pedestrian bridge in Ikota have all been removed and the bridge cleaned. Continuous monitoring will be implemented to ensure the safety and orderliness of the pedestrian bridge users.”
