The Calgary Stampeders signed veteran American linebacker Shaheed Salmon on Tuesday.
The specific terms of Salmon's contract have not been revealed yet, but reportedly it is for one season.
Shaheed Salmon, who is six-foot-one and weighs 224 pounds, played for the New Orleans Breakers in the United States Football League last season. He made 17 tackles in eight games. After the USFL and the XFL merged into the United Football League, Salmon was picked up by the Memphis Showboats but was recently let go.
Before joining the Calgary Stampeders, Salmon was part of the Ottawa Redblacks from 2019 to 2022. During his time with the team, he played in 35 regular-season games, where he amassed 27 tackles (one for loss), 27 special-team tackles, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
Salmon had a four-season stint at Samford, where he started 27 out of 44 games. He made 275 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and four interceptions. He was named first-team all-Southern Conference in both his junior and senior seasons.
