The teacher’s recruitment test scheduled for 13 centers in Osun State did not happen in two centers in Osogbo and Ikire on Wednesday.
The state government started the process to hire new teachers for public primary and secondary schools in the state.
After the form collection process, applicants were assigned to 13 centers across the state by Osun State University, which was responsible for the recruitment process.
The exams were planned to be held at the university from Wednesday, March 27, to Thursday, March 28, 2024, at different times.
While the exercise was successful in 11 of the centers, there were issues in two centers in Osogbo and Ikire towns.
It was also noticed that the exercise started slowly in some centers but picked up and progressed without delay towards noon.
In a statement by UNIOSUN's Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, the university confirmed the disruption in two centers in Osogbo and Ikire, and announced that the exams would be rescheduled in those centers.
The university attributed the delays to hackers attempting to breach its system, causing damage to the server, resulting in an undue delay and the need to reschedule tests at two out of thirteen centers.
The university disclosed that its server was hacked by unknown criminals attempting to disrupt the teachers’ recruitment test.
The server was attacked at midnight, but attempts to breach the core software and question bank were thwarted. The damage to the server took time to resolve, causing the delay and necessitating the rescheduling of tests at two out of thirteen centers.
The university expressed relief that the hackers failed in their attempts to sabotage the recruitment process.
UNIOSUN mentioned that it had been a tough battle over the last eight hours to ensure the success of the Osun State government, and examinations had concluded at 11 out of the 13 locations.
However, the two problematic centers in Osogbo and Ikire will be rescheduled based on the ministry’s decision.
