Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, urged the state residents not to worry and assured them that his administration is determined to protect their lives and property.
The governor also promised to do everything within the law to improve and safeguard the people's collective goals, stating that he should be able to complete his term.
Fubara made these remarks while speaking to members of the Family Support Group during their visit to the Government House in Port Harcourt to declare their support for his administration.
The Family Support Group consists of Rivers youths, women, and men from the three senatorial districts and 23 local government areas, aiming to protect and defend the state's interests.
This information was included in a statement released in Port Harcourt by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi.
Fubara, represented by the state Head of the Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, emphasized that the government is for all well-meaning Nigerians who wish the state well.
He reassured them that his administration would not let them down and would provide good governance and quality services across all sectors.
Fubara expressed satisfaction in seeing the youth's strong interest in the government and their willingness to defend their votes.
He mentioned that they want his term to be completed without interruption.
He declared, “The entire Rivers State stands firm that we won the election fairly and deserve to complete our full term. Nothing will disrupt the popular mandate provided to this administration.
“Just a few weeks after taking office, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, initiated the Port Harcourt Ring Road project that will cover six local governments. It will be finished within 36 months, but I believe it will be completed ahead of schedule due to the progress we have seen.
“The official Trans-Kalabari Road will commence soon starting from Port Harcourt. There are many plans in place for that road, and soon, you will see contractors on site, opening up Rivers State.
“Just yesterday, it was reported in the news that the governor has started the construction of the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road. Originally a single lane, it will now be dualised. The government has already awarded the contract.”
Fubara stressed that his administration supports youth and people and is committed to maintaining an inclusive and empathetic approach that provides relief to the people.
He added, “I want to thank you for the commitment you have shown, and I urge you to remain steadfast. Keep your promise to defend him at all times.
“If you hear anything negative, stand firm, defend the Governor, and inform people about the positive developments in the state due to his efforts.
During the 2023 elections, the President General of Family Support Group, Mr Henry Abraham, mentioned in his speech that they were advised to vote and safeguard their votes because the process was without violence and considered reliable.
Abraham expressed, “By protecting our votes, we are also defending the person we cast our votes for. We are a Family Support Group, and we believe that Rivers State belongs to all of us. It's not the private property of one person; it belongs to all the people of Rivers State.
“Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stand strong. The Family Support Group is standing by you. All the ward coordinators, executives, LGA coordinators, officers of the National Executive Committee, and all our leaders are with you, and the PDP is supporting you.”
