A woman from Larksville who was accused of purposefully aiming lit fireworks at a neighbor’s house has been given a sentence by the Luzerne County Court in WILKES-BARRE on Tuesday.
Mollie Redmond, 50, from Carver Street, was given a three-month to one-year sentence at the county correctional facility by Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. for not contesting the charge of failing to control or report dangerous fire.
Redmond had four counts of reckless endangerment and one count of discharging consumer fireworks within 150 feet of a building or vehicle withdrawn by the prosecutors.
The police in Larksville accused Redmond after a surveillance camera captured her lighting fireworks aimed at a neighbor’s house on July 5, 2023 according to court records.
A firework landed on the roof and Redmond was heard yelling to her daughter, “Oh my God, it’s on fire, get in the house,” as they both ran inside their own home, as stated in court records.
The neighbor came out of her house and used a garden hose to spray the roof.
According to police records, the neighbor had been to court with Redmond earlier on July 5 and believed that the fireworks were directed at her house in retaliation.
The Larksville Fire Department responded to the neighbor’s house after the incident.
